I know everyone who listens to Capital City Radio is dedicated to the stream 24/7. But try to tear yourself away for just one hour this Friday, Oct. 2 at 11am.
I am hosting “All Sides Weekend” on WOSU 820 AM (that is on the AM dial of the radio…you know…the opposite of FM).
On Friday from 11am – Noon we are featuring Columbus’s Local Music Scene on the show.
Joining me in the studio will be:
Columbus Alive Music Critic Chris DeVille
Central City Recording President Andrew Dodson
Capital City Radio’s Groundswell Columbus Host and WOSU Broadcast Technician Eric French
Each of my guests has selected a few local musicians to highlight during the show. We will also discuss the best venues to hear local music in Central Ohio. The show is a call-in program, so listeners can join the conversation by dialing 614-292-8513 or sending a brief e-mail to allsides@wosu.org.
I am not going to tell you which musicians Chris, Eric and Andrew have selected – but let’s just say that it was a very difficult decision for them to make. There is just too much good music being produced in Columbus! Now that is not a bad problem to have…
We had a similar local music show in July and it was very successful. If you would like to listen back to that show just click here:
I invited some singer-songwriter types to WOSU to record a live in-studio episode of Groundswell Columbus. Here’s a quick edit of 3 of their songs. I’ll post more soon… -Eric
Today on the Takeaway, John Hockenberry and co-hosts talk to Michael Moore about his new film, “Capitalism, A Love Story.” From comparing his wealth to Ken Burn’s to citing FDR’s call for a second bill of rights to the US Constitution, Moore talks about the movie. While his gotcha moments might be diminishing, Moore argues that the everyday Americans know that Moore has their backs.
Say hello to Capital City Radio! Next week, on Mon Sept 21 and Tue Sept 22, Capital City Radio will be on the Ohio State campus. You can find us at the WOSU Public Media booth/table to learn more about the new channel and how you can get involved.
Speaking of getting involved, if you like to blog and enjoy our channel, consider interning with us. OSU and other colleges in central Ohio will give you credit for interning with our marketing and communications team. And we’ll give you real world experience for your resume. Contact us at capitalcityradio@wosu.org (put Internship in the subject line).
I’m pretty excited for the new Wing & Tusk record, which will be the feature of this week’s show. Some other new stuff, some old stuff, and a finale as monumental as the moon landing.
